Aspire Atlantis 2 Review

The early summer loves a good sequel, and in timely form Aspire has released the upgraded version of the popular Aspire Atlantis, the Aspire Atlantis 2.

This redesigned tank system attempts to improve on what was one of the most well received clearomizers of its time with improved airflow and an all-new cooling system designed to better regulate surface temperature during use.

Of course, the success of the original is no guarantee of the quality of the successor.

Today’s Aspire Atlantis 2 review will uncover if this blockbuster 2^nd coming is more on the “Godfather” or “Speed” end of the sequel scale.

What’s New- Aspire Atlantis 2

This second edition of the Aspire Atlantis returns the tank’s most popular features such a Bottom Vertical Coil technology for unparalleled vaping efficiency as well as Organic Cotton Coils for some of the purest flavor profiles on the market.

It also adds a redesigned airflow system featuring two holes as opposed to the original single port design as well as additional air flow slots in the included drip tip.

The Atlantis v2 is also available in multiple coil resistance levels, allowing users to select from 0.3 ohm, 0.5 ohm, and 1 ohm coils compared with the single coil type available for the original Atlantis.

Performance

As for the performance of the Aspire Atlantis 2.0, it takes what was already one of the premier tanks on the market and takes it to a new level with the redesigned coils.

These coils are now designed with more strategically placed airflow holes at the bottom of the coils, and they work in conjunction with the dual exterior airflow slots to push more air over your juice and deliver more flavor with every draw.

The juice flow holes grew a size as well, and although the Aspire Atlantis 2 may be a bit juice-greedier than the previous version, we think experiencing the difference in performance is worth the trade-off.

All told, the Aspire Atlantis 2 offers superior performance when compared with the original, even to a slight fault, as the higher nicotine content juices produced a much more potent throat hit than we’ve gotten used to.

Hey, look at it this way: you might be able to turn your nic content down a notch with the Aspire Atlantis, especially at higher voltages.

Of course, the newly designed coils are better, otherwise a lot of engineers wasted a bunch of their time, but the originals are pretty great as well and it would be nice not to be stuck with a drawer full of old coils when you inevitably start using the Aspire Atlantis 2 first and foremost.

That’s why we thought it was so cool of Aspire to make the Atlantis backward-compatible with original Atlantis coils.

It even works the other way around, with first-generation Aspire tanks playing just fine with the new coils with the mild exception of the super sub-ohm 0.3 variants, which get a bit warm for our taste since the original Atlantis tank wasn’t built with the same airflow potential.

Still, it’s nice to have someone think of their loyal customer base…isn’t that right, Sony?

Build Quality

Build quality on the Aspire Atlantis 2 is excellent, with the glass and aluminum construction of the tank continuing to prove as outstanding material choices for tanks of this type.

The airflow holes are machined perfectly and all the engraving on the unit from branding to embellishment is sharp.

Sure, at the end of the day, a tank is a tank, but the materials used to construct if can determine how long it actually is a tank, and by all appearances the Aspire Atlantis 2 is built to last and look great doing it.

The Aspire Atlantis 2.0 clearomizer features standard 510 threading for compatibility with most devices on the market and has a diameter of 22mm to enable a good aesthetic fit with with most box and mechanical mods.

We Would Have Liked to See

As promising as the improvements we’ve seen made to this new version of the Aspire Atlantis tank may be, there was one significant step back we can’t help but point out here.

The Atlantis 2.0 does have a replaceable Pyrex glass tank design, but unlike the original, does not include a spare glass piece in case of emergencies.

We learned the value of a spare Pyrex shell after one of our staffers that shall remain nameless foolishly left his vape standing upright on top of a company fridge only to see it fall glass-first under the weight of the mod and shatter on the ground at the first opening of the door.

If that sounds like something you’d do, you might not be happy to hear that an included replacement won’t sitting calmly on your desk as in our story.

Another thing is the airflow control at the drip tip.

While it does in fact help cool the vapor that might otherwise be too warm and help contribute to large clouds, it also mutes the flavor of the vapor a good bit.

Overview

Overall, the Aspire Atlantis 2.0 is everything we could ask it to be. It’s a high-caliber tank that holds enough eJuice for at least the day and puts out some serious vapor and flavor.

The Aspire Atlantis line has always been built around the concept of tank-like convenience with the performance of an RDA, and this incarnation of the Atlantis nails it to an even greater extent than the original.

It’s a little power-hungry with maximum performance only showing at 30w or above as well as a tad pricey for those used to those plastic abominations with the silica tentacles inside.

Though for vapers who demand the finest in flavor and performance, it’s tough to go wrong with the Aspire Atlantis 2.0.
