Improving on a classic is always an ambitious undertaking, and today’s review aims to find out whether Innokin has exceeded its own lofty reputation or just fixed what wasn’t broke with the iTaste SVD 2.

What’s New? iTaste SVD 2.0
The Innokin SVD 2 Mod is built to give iTaste lovers everything they expect from their mod of choice and more.
The star of the Innokin SVD 2’s list of improvements is the custom-built Evolv microchip, which allows steadier operation at high power levels and low resistance levels.
This makes the mod ideal for those room-filling clouds of vapor some in the community go through device after unsuitable device to achieve as well as normal, everyday vapers.
Only Variable Wattage Here
While the lack of variable voltage (a common feature among higher-end mods) can give some tweaking-obsessed mod junkies pause, we think the variable wattage combined with the added brainpower more than offsets your limited ability.
The Innokin SVD 2 has variable wattage adjustable from 5 to 20 watts of power in increments of 0.1 to allow performance tuning or battery conservation. Play with the resistance on that adjustable tank or crank up the power on a low battery with confidence, the iTaste 2.0 can handle your mild abuse of experimentation with a smile.
Of Course It’s 510 Threading
The Innokin iTaste SVD 2.0 has standard fixed 510 threading for use with a variety or tanks and clearomizers. Could we be seeing a shift toward an industry standard with the 510? Universal compatibility would be good for the vaping public.
Innokin SVD 2 Batteries
Another outstanding feature of the Innokin SVD 2.0 is its friendliness with multiple battery types. The iTaste SVD 2.0 cannot use 2 stacked batteries.
The retail package includes interchangeable tubes to allow use with either 18650 or 18350-type batteries with flat tops, easing the burden on owners to find a specific type of SVD 2 Mod battery.
With the local mod shop scene still in its infancy and the death of RadioShack, Innokin’s efforts to make it easier to find batteries for their device won’t go unappreciated here at Best Clearomizer.
Innokin SVD 2 Charger
You’ll need a quality power source to keep your Innokin SVD 2 batteries fully juiced and ready to go, so we recommend the Nitecore I2 Intellicharger for use with this mod system.
It accommodates multiple types of batteries, so if you’re planning on using multiple types or have a collection of mods all with hungry batteries, it’s a solid choice.
A Quality Build
Build quality on the iTaste SVD 2 is good, with the stainless steel body providing more than enough protection to keep the vulnerable innards of the device safe from everyday perils. The mod is ergonomically designed, and provides a solid and comfortable feel in the hand.
Brushed steel is often an attractive choice for quality electronics, and the effect is no less handsome here with the mod showing off a sleek overall profile. As for the buttons, they all have decent spring so you can actually know you’re pressing a button, and the main firing control gives a satisfying click when pushed.
The Innokin SVD 2.0 Travel Case
This is more than just a glorified sunglasses holder with a manufacturer logo. The battery checking system of the iTaste SVD 2 case tracks battery power and usage while the device is stored as well as giving health alerts for damaged batteries.
It’s nice to see a travel case do something besides collect dust, and we can’t wait to see what this exciting new development in vape accessory technology can bring us in the future as other innovative manufacturers take note.
A Safe Vaping Device
Innokin’s SVD 2.0 benefits from safety features relatively standard with quality mods such as short circuit protection, overheat protection and atomizer protection to extend the operational life of the device’s most sensitive components.
It also takes special care to ensure the health of the battery, with reverse polarity protection to prevent damage from incorrectly inserted batteries and a battery checker located in.
Some Minor Inconveniences
For minor quibbles, the iTaste SVD 2.0 may prove a bit awkward to use for left handers with the plus and minus buttons placed horizontally instead of vertically.
It’s an easy to use and well-equipped mod with some of the latest in microchip technology all at a price point that’s significantly lower than comparable models.
