1Kanger Subox Review | Kanger Tank
The Kanger Subox kit is a that includes the new KBOX Mini and Subtank Mini. The KBOX Mini is a small box mod with a punch of power that will equal most full sized vape mods.
What is really cool about the Kanger Subox kit is that it allows new vapers as well as those with experience to have everything they need in a kit other than juice and a battery.
In this Kanger Subox review, we’ll look at all this mini vape mod has to offer and why it’s different from the usual.

How Does it Look?
The Kanger KBOX Mini itself is quite attractive. It has a very easy to see OLED screen that even works in bright light or out in the sun.
It displays the following: Battery indicator will flash when battery capacity has dropped too low, displays “Kanger Tech” during standby mode, and displays battery level, resistance, and output wattage.
The colors are just black and white but honestly, that’s all you need sometimes – something simple that works beautifully. Here’s the thing though – the black one for instance, has red buttons and rings and looks absolutely out of this world.
Think black with total class and you’ve got the Kanger KBOX. So while you might initially just see that it’s available in two colors, you won’t be disappointed in how totally classy and gorgeous this device is.
Even the white comes with black buttons, trim, and rings so it looks pretty darn awesome as well. The coating is a scratch-resistant ceramic so you don’t have to worry about it looking old with barely any use.
The weight is light feeling with the device being even smaller than you might expect. The buttons on the device are very tactile with a light, yet clicky feel to them.
Some reviewers have claimed that the battery door is a little off center but others claim that it works well and that the magnetic doors work great at holding the battery securely.
Your mileage may vary on this but it is the only minor issue that is noticed, if it is even a thing.
How Well Does it Vape?
Well, not only does it look awesome and have almost everything you need but it vapes with perfection as well. The clouds it creates are thick, luxurious, and dense with a ton of flavor.
It also works well with thicker juices so there’s no issue with what kind you like to use either. Now there is a bit of a break-in time on using new coils. There is a more stiff draw from the .5-ohm coil and you may even get less flavor and an off taste at first.
Usually, it may take a few hours for a total flavorful experience but once it breaks in, the taste is exquisite. The coil heads also need more wattage than the previous OCC’s from Kanger.
This means you can vape the Subox Mini set to around 40w with the .5-ohm coil head and can the 1.5 ohm does great with no more than 20 watts.
Threading and RBA Head
The threading is a 510 fixed pin which works much better than the prior KBOX device. The kit come with two coil heads, a rebuildable head, and a really good tank.
The vapor quality in the vertical coils in the coil heads really produce an excellent flavor, huge puffy clouds, and it wicks better, which is always a plus.
The RBA head allows for excellent juice flow and has a locking screw which means your RBA and base won’t come apart as easily. This is a welcome change.
Safety Features
- Short Circuit Protection. OLED will flash and display 0.0
- Over Current Protection. OLED will flash and display 9.9Ω
- Replaceable Cells Protection. No output if batteries are inserted incorrectly
- PCB Over Temperature Protection and Battery Stop Function. OLED will display “Temp High”
- 10-Second Safety Cut-off. OLED will display “10S OVER”
How to Use the Kanger Subox Mini Starter Kit
- 5 Clicks to switch on/off
- Press + or- buttons to adjust wattage output
- Buttons can also be used to adjust orientation of display so users can always vape with their preferred hand
- Plug in the micro USB cord to charge and display will show charging state, it will go off once your device is fully charged
Final Thoughts
The Kanger Subox Mini Starter Kit is pretty cool as a device for experienced vapers or newbies. It can fire as low as 0.3 ohms and push out 50 watts of power.
The Kangertech Subox features Kanger’s second box mod, the KBOX Mini which supports .3 ohms and is a 50w device.
The KBOX mini pairs perfectly with the included Subtank Mini and this is a perfect kit for those just starting out or those who want an entire kit in something that is affordable, compact, yet powerful.
The first batches have pretty much sold out so you’ll want to get your hands on this one as soon as possible. No matter which color you choose, you’ll surely love this formidable mini box mod that comes in a complete kit.
Keep in mind that the kit does not include an 18650 battery or the charger. So you will need to purchase those separately. We suggest a high drain battery such as the Samsung 25R and a good charger like the Nitecore Intellicharger.
