12Kanger Subtank Mini Review
With an already esteemed name in the game with its popular Protanks and Aerotanks, Kanger shook up the vaping world in recent months with the debut of its revolutionary Subtank, the industry’s first widely available hybrid clearomizer and RBA.
Kanger has stepped up their game and released the Mini Subtank clearomizer. After the success of the Kanger Subtank, we are ecstatic to breakdown everything you’ll need to know about the Subtank Mini. Shall we get started?

What’s New: Kanger Subtank Mini
The Kanger Subtank Mini clearomizer is more than just a shrunken Kanger Subtank. The airflow control mechanism has been adjusted to enable more fine-tuned control, and the settings activate with a satisfying tactile click.
The RBA aspect of the Subtank Mini has also undergone some changes, employing a single coil in a smaller space to reduce juice leakage, a common complaint when less than ideal coil work was used with the old Subtank.
Subtank Mini Threading
The Kanger Subtank Mini features standard 510 threading for functional compatibility with a range of devices capable of at least 30 watts, but its 22mm diameter means it’ll really throw off some of the aesthetics.
Be Kind to Your Subtank
When you make this kind of investment in a tank, you should realize that it’s not one of those plastic jobs they throw in with eGo clones. Getting the most out of your Subtank Mini will require a bit more finesse.
For instance, there’s no quicker way to cause problems with both ends of your vaping setup than by having too much juice leak from the tank to the mod, so be careful to never let e-liquid get in the center port when filling the tank.
This can also happen while refilling due to the seal temporarily being broken, so always wrap a piece of cloth around the mouthpiece of the tank when removing its base.
Clean any excess liquid from the battery connection before replacing the Subtank Mini or charging the battery, and always be sure to change your atomizer head at least every other week to prevent degradation and leakage.
Build Quality
Build quality of the Kanger Subtank Mini carries over from its older brother, and though there’s no such thing as idiot-proofing, the high grade stainless steel and virtually shatterproof Pyrex tank combine to form a tank that should be hard enough to break that most people never do it.
The 4.5 mL capacity of the Subtank Mini is above average, and the organic cotton coils are another welcome return from the original, delivering clear and rich flavors with a variety of juices. Vapor production is excellent as well.
Organic Cotton Coils
The Kanger Subtank Mini features OCC (Organic Cotton Coil) construction as a delivery system for the clearomizer. This Japanese-imported cotton of truly represents an improvement in taste, delivering clearer notes of flavor with a variety of juices with its larger heating section.
In some cases, it was like trying our old favorites for the first time. The cotton has the added advantage of lasting much longer than cheaper cotton or other materials, leading to less replacement costs.
Essential Coil Supplies
If you’re going to rebuilding your coils in your Subtank Mini, than you’ll need to grab a few extra supplies. MBV supplies you with KOGA 100% organic cotton so you’ll be able to rebuild your coils properly.

Minor Flaws & Drawbacks
The original Kanger Subtank was a seriously incredible piece of equipment with some minor flaws, but so was the Wright Brothers’ first plane. A few improvements did wonders for both.
As mentioned, one of the single biggest concerns with the original Subtank was the sheer size of the unit, and since this edition of corrects this issue simply by existing, this Kanger Subtank Mini review is already off to an auspicious start.
Having the option of switching between “regular clearomizer” and quality RBA is a new phenomenon. With the Subtank Mini, you won’t break the bank but you’ll be able to dabble in a dripper’s paradise before long.
Final Thoughts
The Kanger Subtank Mini is everything vape enthusiasts loved about the original Subtank.
The original Subtank offered what is perhaps the ultimate vaping experience, however the Subtank Mini provides the same level of functionality that works with a wider range of devices.
Anyone who found themselves scared off by the bulk of the original Subtank can finally experience the next generation of clearomizers. You almost wonder why the Subtank Mini wasn’t released first.
